UFC 286 is taking place at the O2 Arena in London, England.
The card is headlined by Leon Edwards defending his Welterweight title against Kamaru Usman .
They meet for the third time.
Edwards’ last loss was to Usman – in 2015. He has built a stellar record of 10 straight wins and one ‘No-Contest’. He is an accomplished striker with excellent footwork and the ability to use his reach advantage to control distance.
Usman had a run of 19 wins since 2013, 5 of which were title defenses, until he met Leon again in 2022. Kamaru is an extremely dominant wrestler with good ground-and-pound, who developed serious striking power.
It will be an interesting style match-up. And a few questions will be answered:
+ Can Leon’s spectacular win give him the mental strength to forget that he was thoroughly dominated by Usman in their last meeting, from the second round onwards until one minute before the last bell? Was it the altitude of Colorado that held him back from more?
+ Was it enough time for Kamaru to come back from a devastating knock out? Mentally and physically? How is the rest of his body holding up? Especially the knees and the hands?
