Is now the best (or worst) time to travel?

Unless you have been under a rock for the last couple of months you will be aware that there is "coronavirus" spreading around the globe. Although it has infected over 100,000 people, the mortality rates its low at around 3% (with most of these older people, or people with health conditions). Luckily I live in New Zealand, where we only have 5 confirmed cases and no deaths yet.

Last year we did some amazing travel through Europe, but found that the majority of the major cities were over run by tourists. This not only made it harder to navigate, but also made it a bit less personal and special. It also made it near impossible to get great photos! Recently in the news I have been seeing traditional tourist hotspot areas, particularly in Italy (Vatican City, Rome, Milan and Venice) which are nearly empty.

I know the virus is bad, but I would love to go traveling right now! I am not scared. On top of this the cost of flights are coming down as people cancel and demand goes right down.

However, there are major risks with this - obviously the major one being catching the virus and getting sick or dieing. Also it could end up costing alot more if you get caught up where the virus has struck and being made to self isolate. Additionally, airlines (and insurance) are generally not paying out if flights cancel due to the virus.

So would you travel right now??
