Julian Assange: Did he do the right thing?

In my previous post I asked whether Wikileaks is good for the world and about the moral debate. The main question triggering that moral debate is based on the impact of Julian Assange's leaks. Technically Wikileaks may be more than just Julian Assange but if Julian Assange made certain decisions under his name then the question becomes did he make a mistake by releasing identification information in his leaks? Is the current sentiment on the matter that he did the right thing or is the sentiment that he made a reckless decision?

Feel free to answer this poll. Currently around 53% of the USA supports Julian Assange being extradited but it makes sense to ask the global Steem community to see where global sentiment falls on this matter.

One possibility is that he is perceived as a hero. In this possibility he did the right thing and his actions were moral.

A second possibility is that he is a traitor. In this possibility he maliciously set out to cause damage to US national security and did not care about the collateral damage.

A third possibility is he is a victim. Under this possibility he could have had the impression that he had no choice or may have been pressured.
