Today I cleaned up the 10+ years old desktop I have. I don't know why I still keep it, it barely works anymore and I rarely turn it on. Maybe I want to see how long it can still work... It's not worth upgrading it either, too old for that, everything would need to be changed.
Regarding the poll question, I went through several phases myself. When I was younger, I wanted and usually purchased quite expensive and top-of-the-line hardware. Later and now, all I want is that it does its work for what I need them to do.
With phones it was a bit different. I resisted for a long time the trend to get a "smart" phone. I was happy with my cell phone , since I had internet and all the other new and fancy stuff already, just not mobile.
At some point I made the switch, obviously. And now I keep up with the mobile technology, just never with the latest model. I always find that much too expensive for the added benefits, and fast it will become second best model and then third, and so on, at much better prices.
How about you?

I keep my phone/laptop/desktop until they die on me or until they become almost unusable
I want my phone/laptop/desktop to do the work I bought them for. If they do, great. If not, I upgrade or buy another.
