Do Shoes Belong In A Public Walkway?

Yes, A Shoe Poll

Yes. This is the dpoll you've been waiting for. Today, I want to test your tolerance for disorderly shoes.

In our home, we have two different places where shoes tend to congregate. One is in the garage, between where two cars are parked and some shelves, narrowing an already fairly narrow walkway.

As you can see, there's a basket for the shoes, and plenty of shoes in it, but for some reason, there's quite a few shoes outside the basket. Some of these shoes were inside the basket at one time and never made it back in, while others have never seen the inside or spent any time on top of the heap.

Shoes have been known to wander next to the step coming in out of the garage, under one of the cars, and so forth.

The other place where shoes congregate is in the laundry room, which is more like a glorified entryway from the house to the garage. Here, at least, it is possible to keep the shoes out of the way, underneath the counter/shelf, but it seems like shoe creep is a constant annoyance if not danger.

By the way. None of these shoes are mine. I do leave my shoes in the laundry room/entryway, and I try to make sure they're out of the way. I don't like leaving them in the garage, because of the small critters that like to move into them and take up permanent residence.

So. What do you think about this? Should shoes be found in public walkways, and if so, should they be left to their own devices, or should shoes be orderly, if not kept out of public traffic areas? Let me know!
