So this is a feature I've been talking about for a bit now because I think it would be really valuable to Steem.
Currently, the user experience on Steem is tailored for giving people upvotes. If you're a Steem veteran and you ever use Steemit, you're probably using @steemplus so it doesn't suck. One of the things SteemPlus offers is the ability to see how much each users upvote is worth. Every additional frontend was built with this feature by default. Why? Because duh, it's something you want to know.
You want to know who gave you what and if you're the one doing the giving, you probably want it known that you gave. Every platform that has a functionality of allowing one user to donate to another user has this functionality. So why our UX for giving upvotes makes sense, the UX for donations doesn't.
Maybe people think that with the primary functionality of Steem being the ability to reward people without actually spending your own money why would people want to donate?
But I think we're missing out on a big opportunity here, because it takes a LOT of money here to have a valuable upvote. But MANY more people can afford to donate a dime, a quarter, a dollar etc.
What I'm hoping for is a UX where donations are just as visible as upvotes. This way, whether you're a plankton or a whale, a Steem maximalist or a casual user, if you see something you REALLY like, you can give someone a tip and have that be visible to the world.
I'm aware that @steemplus already has this functionality, but it's basically hidden, and invisible to the ouside world. IMHO it needs to be visible, and on display on the content that you're donating for. Something like this.
So my question to you all is, if this were available, would you use it? Would you donate to people here on Steem?
