The Monkees have released their first Christmas album called Christmas Party . Micky Dolenz, Peter Tork, Mike Nesmith and even the late Davy Jones all take turns on lead vocals on some Christmas standards and also some newly-written songs, by some notable songwriters.
The first single off the album is one that could be considered naughty and nice. It's called "Unwrap You At Christmas" and it was written by Andy Partridge, formerly of the band XTC. That band was known for hits like "The Ballad of Peter Pumpkinhead, "Dear God," "The Mayor of Simpleton," and "Making Plans for Nigel" among others.
A lyric video was created for "Unwrap You at Christmas" featuring art by comic book illustrator Mike Allred that is inspired by scenes from two different episodes of The Monkees TV show. The woman depicted in the video is Julie Newmar, who appeared in episode 29, "Monkees Get Out More Dirt." Newmar also played Catwoman in the 1966 Batman TV series. The other images are from episode 47 "The Monkees' Christmas Show."
"Unwrap you at Christmas " is available on Spotify along with the rest of Christmas Party .
