Biannce owned CoinMarketCap ranks very high when it comes to cryptocurrency related websites. Five of their executives have already left the company after the aqusition. Maybe they simply felt they made good enough money from th sale and wanted a break from work.
@coingecko on the other hand offers more features and they have been offering these features for a longer time. They are also a part of the HIVE community. You can go and check their blog at @coingecko I remember they used to have a witness setup too.
