The shrink Sigmund Freud stated something.
It was around 1897 he wrote his idea about what children felt for their parents. Boys should be sexually attracted to their mother and start hating their father and girls should be attracted to her father and therefore hate her mother.
Decennial Freud's statement is used to explain every kind of behavior.
By now/most psychologists know better.
All kinds of tests are done and nothing proves Freud was right.
On what did Freud base his "knowledge"? Probably on his own feelings for his mother. The woman he hardly knew because he was raised by the maid.
What we still believe.
Sons are closer to their mother and daughters are closer to their father.
True or is this wishful thinking?
What was the outcome of tests?
If we like one parent more than the other it has to do with character. If it comes to it the relationship between parents and children isn't different from any other relationship. Birds of a feather stick together.
