You know, I've been thinking. What do you all do for fun on Steem these days? The doom and gloom predicted by the passing of HF21/22 have yet to come to pass. About three months ago, I asked what kept people around. That poll was more vague and open as I wasn't sure what I should be looking for. This time, I want to be more specific.
Speaking of doom and gloom, I haven't even updated my Journey into the Apocalypse series.
(Boy, I do miss writing about the Hawaiian Farmer as a recurring character. I need to get back on the ~~drawing~~ writing board.)
A lot of people rage quit Steem over the EIP, the introduction of SPS, etc. Some even blame the downvoting. There exist some people who left the network over those things. But, let's be honest about the real reason why most people left: the price.
As I have mentioned in previous posts, people need reasons to be here. While rewards are one of the incentives, they are most likely the weakest. When the price dropped, they all disappeared. I still hold the opinion that the rewards should have been the icing on the cake.
When it comes to what's keeping people around, Splinterlands should be a great example. Splinterlands is a great case for successful blockchain-based business and dapp. I can't say the same for others even though I do enjoy some of them.
With the roll out of the community features, I hope things will finally look up. This, of course, will also be the precursor to the herald of SMTs. Not that it matters in the grand scheme of things. The crypto market is irrational, but if Steem does survive, it will stand the trails stronger. Not to mention, it could finally have features that match what you'd expect on a social platform. Although those features are already years late.
What do I do for fun on Steem these days? Oh not much. I blog some stuff here. Downvote some things there. Listen to some radio shows here. Banter with some other Steemians there. I'm a simple man when it comes to entertainment. Some people read books, and I read most of the things I upvote. Of those things, they came from the tribes as they are the best content filter/discovery we have so far.
So, tell me, what do you do for fun on Steem these days?
What is keeping you entertained in this prophesied ghost town?
There is no absurd answer (for the most part). Poll will be open for a week and multiple choices are welcome.
